Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
    He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
    he restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness
    for his name’s sake.
Even though I walk
    through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
    for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
    they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me
    in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
    my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and love will follow me
    all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
    for ever.

It is just so beautiful hey, such a warm psalm.  Not much needs to be said.

By the Spirit he has placed in us, may we too cry out “Abba, Father.”  We are children of God.  And our Father loves us. He leads us. He protects us. He sustains us.  He saves us.

It is good to be reconciled to God.  May we find confidence and comfort in this so that, like David, we too can earnestly proclaim, ‘Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.’

  1. Thank you Shaun. This is a Psalm for the living Christian but we seem to hear it at so many funurals. May the Holy Spirit revive our hearts to receive a fresh anointing for Psalm 23.
