Wisdom and Understanding

Our readings today are Proverbs 10 and Ephesians 1:1-10

Our reading from Proverbs today is a great one to reflect on as we look forward to a bright new year stretched out before us! What is the trajectory of your life? Do you gravitate to wisdom or foolishness? Righteousness or wickedness?

Rather than give us a rulebook to follow to gain his acceptance, God has instead graciously adopted us into his family. As we welcome the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives, we take on the manners of our adopted family. Let’s make a new year’s resolutionto more closely reflect our adopted father’s righteousness, wisdom and integrity.

In his letter to the Ephesians, Paul reminds us that Jesus has laid the foundation for us to make a new life as adopted children of God. God’s Riches At Christ’s Expense – GRACE. Not just a gift, but an incredible gift lavished upon us!

As we look forward to the good works God has planned for us this year, let us pray that we might always be instruments of his Wisdom and Understanding so that we play our part in bringing unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ.

  1. Thank you Andrew. As I sit waiting for my flight to Vietnam I have in my hand luggage still 6 of the 20 cambodian children’s storybook Bibles. Part of the good work that God had prepared for me to do. Gods Word won’t return void to Him. Praying that those at the boarding gate will have children they will pass them on to.
