Ezekiel 13 | Titus 2

I’m late once again… sorry Church :/

Ezekiel 13

I love the book of Ezekiel.  The judgement that is outlayed in it is so so hectic, but I feel like God’s heart is powerfully revealed through it all.  The underlying verse for the whole book for me is 8:17: “Is it a trivial matter for the house of Judah to do the detestable things they are doing to here?” We see that it is very much not a trivial matter.

Ezekiel 13 describes God’s response to the wickedness of Israel’s prophets.  Let us not miss the tragedy of what is happening.  The people who were meant to be the revealing the revelation of God to the people and his will for their lives were doing the exact opposite.  v2, “Hear the word of the Lord!” This is what they were meant to be doing the whole time!

Then you will know that I am the Lord.” As is the pattern through the book, Gods unloads judgement after judgement on his people because of their sinfulness – such is the gravity of sinning against an infinitely holy God.  It is not a trivial matter.

Titus 2

For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ,  who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.  v11-14

Not much needs to be said beyond lets continue asking God to lead us and reveal to us how this can describe our lives more and more and more until the day we see him in glory.

  1. Thanks Shaun. Better late than never!!! I like the challenge of verse 8in the Titus reading,” your message is to be sound beyond reproach, so that the opponent will be ashamed, HAVING NOTHING BAD TO SAY ABOUT US”. What a challenge for the Christians of today. I was thinking as I heard that the same sex bill was going to be presented by the opposition today that Christians unfortunately in many cases have lost their voice. When the world looks at Christian marriages what do they see? Well unfortunately they see for, a large part Christian marriages, breaking up at the same rate if not higher than those of the world. How could this possibly be true?? It just doesn’t make sense. A part of the problem is that we are not following biblical principles for in the home. Christian living principles are found in these few verses. Sometimes I don’t love my husband, but the bible teaches that I’m to be taught HOW to love my husband by an older Christian woman whose been there done that. Who understands when you just want to give up and throw in the towel but she will point to to a more excellent way Gods way. Sometimes I don’t love my children once again I’m to be taught HOW to do this by being under the teaching of an older Christian woman. And all the other things that add up to godly living. Praise God in His Grace He has provided this for me otherwise I too would just be another statistic of a broken marriage. A word for the young men for today in a sex saturated society to be taught how to be self controlled in EVERYTHING. What a high calling. Repentance for the church starts in the home. Satan is attacking the family and marriages we just can’t stand back and let him do this any longer. It’s back to basics. Get the basics right and build on that.
