John 3:1-2a

1 Kings 2:1-12, John 3:1-21

John 3:1-2a (New International Version)

1 Now there was a Pharisee, a man named Nicodemus who was a member of the Jewish ruling council. He came to Jesus

Election Day. 1 Kings 2 demonstrates that politics can be brutal.

The New Testament reading is also about a person with power. John 3:1 tells us Nicodemus was a member of the Jewish ruling council. Yet he came to Jesus (John 3:2).

Let us pray for all those who exercise power in our community, whether members of the federal parliament, or the NSW government or the Wollongong City Council – or even the Parish Council. Like Nicodemus, may they seek Jesus.

  1. Thanks Helen and Roger. Let us also pray for God’s guidance as we vote to put people in power. And let us thank God that we live in a country where we have the right to vote and the right to worship and follow Him openly.
